Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

Microsoft recently was testing ray tracing in the Xbox Insider version of Minecraft Preview in a move that seems may eventually fix one of the most disappointing parts of Minecraft after the launch of the next-gen consoles, but now the company says it was a mistake and will be removed.

In a tweet from the official Minecraft twitter account Mojang, the developer of Minecraft said “The previous Minecraft Preview build available to Xbox Insiders inadvertently included prototype code for raytracing support on Xbox consoles. This early prototype code has been removed from Preview and doesn’t signal near future plans to bring raytracing support to consoles.” This all comes after a twitter user captured footage of ray tracing in Minecraft preview on Xbox Series X and two years prior, Microsoft teasing Minecraft on Xbox Series X with ray tracing.

The Minecraft community has been waiting for ray tracing for over two years now and with Mojang’s latest move, the game developer seems content to rub dirt in an open wound.
