Microsoft announced today that starting on June 30th, the company is finally launching Xbox Cloud Gaming on Samsung Smart TVs, launching the next phase in its cloud gaming platform expansion to smart TVs.
Beginning on June 30th if you happened to have bought a Samsung Smart TV in 2022 then you can enjoy this new experience, but if you bought a Samsung Smart TV in 2019, 2020 or 2021, then you are out of luck. Microsoft says “If you’re new to gaming, this is an easy way to get into the fun without needing to buy a PC or console”, well chances are you already have a TV and buying a new PC or Console would provide far more value instead of buying another TV for an experience that is totally dependent on having the fastest absolute internet connection to be enjoyable.
The company says “With this rollout, we’re making it easier than ever to play games on the devices you already own” does the spokesman making this statement understand that you have to have a 2022 Samsung Smart TV? Do they also understand that gas prices are over $5 per gallon and that we are on the edge of a recession? This move by both Microsoft and Samsung seems quite tone deaf at the moment but perhaps in year or two when things are back to normal it might be easy to use Xbox Cloud Gaming on your new 2024 Samsung Smart TV.
