Apple announced its latest version of iOS called iOS 16 today and with every new release comes a number of devices that won’t be getting it. This year’s support list omits iPhones equipped with the Apple A9 and A10 chips like the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, the first-gen iPhone SE, and the seventh-generation iPod Touch.

New features in iOS 16
New lock screens ripped directly from watchOS and enabling new customizations to complications or what Apple is calling widgets on iOS16. Intelligent photos uses some of your best photos to create wallpapers for you. The lockscreen includes new animated wallpapers that move while you unlock your phone and morph into a new position.
Live activities celebrates live album art on your lockscreen. Focus is now extending to your lockscreen, enabling you to have wallpapers tied to your focus mode.
Focus modes are now super-charged with the ability to add wallpapers to them so that your Focus will match your activities during portions of your day. You can now have a work wallpaper tied to your work focus and other wallpapers tied to your other focus modes.
You can now edit messages, undo sent messages and mark messages unread. SharePlay is being extended beyond Facetime and now is being enabled in Messages. iMessage is also integrating SharePlay, so you don’t need to launch a FaceTime call to share activity like watching a movie together.
Apple is updating its Dictation feature to help compose messages with just your voice. You can dictate and edit text with your finger simultaneously, which is useful for quick corrections. These new iMessage features will arrive in iOS 16 this fall.
Apple Pay Later, this feature will split a payment into four equal payments over six weeks at 0% interest. Apple Keys, Apple ID
Multi-stop routing enables you to add multiple stops along a route.

iCloud Shared Photo Library
You can share photos with specific groups of people in iOS 16. You can also directly take a shared photo in the Camera app.
Safety Check enables users to disable location and data in abusive relationships.
