Microsoft’s Edge web browser has been growing steadily and with the help of a massive rise in PC sales over the last few years Edge has overtaken Apple’s default browser on macOS, despite Apple’s recent Mac sales boost driven by new Macs powered by Apple Silicon.
According to StatCounter.com, Microsoft’s multi-platform Edge desktop browser which can be used on Windows PCs, Macs and Linux PCs, now has a desktop browser market share of 10.07 percent compared to Apple’s Safari desktop browser at 9.61 percent and Firefox at 7.86 percent. Google’s Chrome browser still holds 66.64 percent market share, but in time Google’s lead could be reduced, by both Apple and Microsoft since Apple has seen a recent Mac sales boost and Google has seen of decline of Chromebooks.
