Rumble originally launched as a YouTube alternative for small video creators to host, manage, distribute and monetize their content. Launching first on the web in 2013, the company then expanded with an iOS and Android app with the Android app landing at the top of the Play Store charts. Today the company announced with a tweet that the platform would expand to TV platforms starting with Apple TV.

The web and mobile are a great place to start for any platform, but as we witnessed with Quibi, a mobile only platform isn’t as strong as a web+mobile+TV platform is a better long-term strategy for a video streaming service. Joe Rogan, Spotify’s golden goose for its ads platform, put Spotify on notice during episode #1797 with Josh Barnett saying that “if I have to walk on eggshells, mind my p’s and q’s, f*ck that” in talking about in his show on Spotify he added “this show required sincerity, without it this show doesn’t have any success.”

As some might remember from February, Rumble’s CEO Chris Pavlovski offered Joe Rogan $100 million to move over to the video service and leave Spotify. The letter said “We stand with you, your guests, and your legion of fans in desire for real conversation,” in response to some believing that some of Joe Rogan’s guests were spreading vaccine misinformation, leading to Spotify putting warning labels on not only Rogan’s episodes but also all other creators who dare to mention anything controversial. Spotify’s move to label episodes is what is called soft-censorship but censorship nonetheless.

Rogan’s frustration with his show on Spotify is likely coming as a result of Spotify requiring Rogan to pad controversial guests with other guests who toe the line. Rogan’s original agreement was said to give him total editorial control over The Joe Rogan Experience, but now that Spotify is injecting itself into who will appear on Rogan’s podcast, the host’s patience is likely being stretched. While there is no word on if Rogan will move his show to Rumble, change is definitely coming to The Joe Rogan Experience one way or another and Rumble could be the under consideration.
