Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

Microsoft is now testing ray tracing in the Xbox Insider version of Minecraft Preview in a move that seems may eventually fix one of the most disappointing parts of Minecraft after the launch of the next-gen consoles.

There have been a myriad of reports online saying that they can access the ray tracing toggle in the settings menu of Minecraft Preview available for Xbox Insiders. We loaded the latest preview on our Xbox Series X and could not access the ray tracing toggle. Some reports indicate that you may be able to start up an online multiplayer world on a ray tracing capable PC then join that world on your Xbox Series X|S, but that did not work for us. Follow the how-to guide below to try it out for yourself.

  1. On your Xbox open the Microsoft Store app
  2. Search for the Xbox Insider app
  3. Download and install the Xbox Insider app
  4. Once installed navigate to the Minecraft Preview app within Xbox Insider app
  5. Join the preview, the Microsoft Store will open and start downloading the Preview
  6. Once installed, Open Minecraft Preview
  7. Open Settings in Minecraft Preview
  8. Scroll down to Ray Tracing on the left-hand column
  9. If the Ray Tracing toggle is enabled, turn it on
  10. If the Ray Tracing toggle is disabled then you will have to wait till Microsoft enables it

While the Minecraft community has been waiting for news like this for a long time, some of us may need to wait a little longer till we can get our grubby little hands on the precious.
