Sony Interactive Entertainment will reportedly announce their answer to Microsoft’s popular Xbox Game Pass subscription service as early as next week. Rumors have circulated for some time that both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now will combine into one service to match Microsoft’s offering.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the upcoming service with headliner God of War: Ragnarok will offer their separate subscription tiers. Each tier would ladder up from base features such as a selection of PS4 and PS5 games, a selection of classic games from the PS2 and PSP systems, extended demos and the ability to stream games over the internet, similar to Xbox Remote Play. Sony’s current subscription offerings are PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, with the former featuring online multiplayer, discounts and a selection of free games each month, the latter features access to Sony’s back catalog of games from PS4, PS3 and PS2 via the cloud or as a digital download.

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers access to hundreds of console and PC games, discounted games, free games and online multiplayer for games that are not currently free to play. Sony seems to want to clear up the confusion around their offerings and give gamers another reason to stick with PlayStation. Sony will have to be competitive with its price since the standard Xbox Game Pass is $9.99, PC Game Pass is also $9.99 and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is $14.99. Sony currently charges $4.99 for each service, so a combined service is likely to cost at least $9.99 with a premium tier likely costing $14.99. We will see what happens next week.
