Lenovo announced a number of new ThinkPads at MWC 2022 and the company also launched an all-new ThinkPad X13s powered by the latest and quite powerful Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 running Windows 11.

Lenovo’s PC line this year gained 16:10 aspect ratio panels this year which are similar to Microsoft’s Surface 3:2 aspect ratio and results in more usable vertical productivity space. The new X13 also features excellent portability with a 2.35lb build and a design which could potentially limit the thermal overhead allowance since there is no fan on board. The trade off with a fan and cooling solution of course is a thicker design.

The Snapdragon 8cx Gen3-powered X13s features improved AI-powered features that improve the all-important video call quality like improved autofocus, auto-white balance and auto-exposure. The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 seamlessly switches between blazing fast 5G, 4G LTE, and Wi-Fi 6 or 6E. It offers lightning-fast speeds up to 10 Gbps with the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF system or up to 7.5Gbps with the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF system. Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 system delivers industry leading Wi-Fi 6E performance with up to 3.6 Gbps.

The ThinkPad X13s is built around the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 platform, paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR4X memory, up to 1TB of PCIe solid state storage, and a 49.5Wh battery.

Overall Windows 11 on Arm feels light weight and snappy for everyday tasks and when your work flow requires using a resource heavy application, app emulation of legacy apps works very well with most apps working flawlessly including photo and graphics applications like Affinity Photo and Designer.

According to Lenovo, the new ThinkPad X13s will be available starting in May starting at $1099 with both AT&T and Verizon planning to offer the laptop as well.
