DuckDuckGo to build upon its privacy focused search and mobile browser with a desktop web browser

DuckDuckGo started with search and decided that in order to deliver a total browser privacy solution they needed to ship a mobile web browser and now the same logic is driving the company to deliver a desktop web browser.

In a new press release DuckDuckGo announced plans to deliver a desktop web browser that the company says will feature “No complicated settings, no misleading warnings, no “levels” of privacy protection – just robust privacy protection that works by default, across search, browsing, email, and more.”

Not another Chromium fork

Compared to Chrome, the DuckDuckGo app for desktop is cleaner, way more private, and early tests have found it significantly faster too!

Instead of forking Chromium, DuckDuckGo is building its desktop web browser around the OS-provided rendering engines, like it does on mobile. The copany plans to ship a clean and simple interface, featuring its beloved Fire Button from its mobile app.
