Google to bring Google Play Games to Windows PCs in 2022

Google teased a huge announcement into the annual Game Awards event today with the company saying that it plans to bring Google Play Games to Windows in 2022.

We’ll have more to share on the service and product next year. But what I can say is this is a new experience that will enable players to download and play their favorite Google Play Games on their desktop. Google will distribute the application and games themselves. We’re excited to help everyone who uses Google Play to continue their gameplay across Android enabled phones, tablets, Chromebooks and Windows.

According to Android Police, Google confirmed that bringing Google Play Games to Windows also will include game distribution. So, a standalone Google Play Games app would act like a game store all on its own with the vast library of Android games included. With the addition of a Google Play app or Google Play Games app for Windows, Google will essentially fold Windows into the Google Play ecosystem, enabling users to continue their gameplay on Android, Chromebooks, tablets and Windows PCs in 2022.
