The $450 5G-equipped Google Pixel 5A to launch this month

A few days ago, Google officially announced its Pixel 6 phones and with that announcement, Google also confirmed that the Pixel 5A was still coming this year to only the US and Japan, despite a recent rumor that Google was cancelling its upcoming Pixel 5a. Today, Jon Prosser reported that the Pixel 5A will launch on August 26th at both the digital and physical Google Store.

What we know about the Pixel 5A, so far

The design will likely feature a unibody plastic chassis similar to the current Pixel 5. The device is to measure 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8mm. The display is likely to be a 6.4-inch panel with a full display design and hole-punch front camera. The rear camera is reportedly to retain the same camera sensors. For those who love the 3.5mm audio jack, it is expected to remain.

  • Color: Mostly Black
  • Display: 6.4 inch, 60Hz – forced 90Hz
  • Processor: Snapdragon 765G
  • Battery: 4650MaH
  • Wireless charging: No
  • RAM: 6GB

Prosser says he is confident that the info given to him are the final specifications. The Pixel 5A will be the only Pixel phone and perhaps the last to utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip since the Pixel 6 phones are debuting with Google’s in-house Tensor chip. On August 26th, customers can buy the Pixel 5A for $450 at the Google Store.
