Apple’s next iPhone, the iPhone 12S or iPhone 13 is expected to ship later this year and new details are still trickling about next year’s iPhone, presumably called iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
According to a new report from JP Morgan Chase, the Pro-level 2022 iPhone 14’s will be made of Titanium alloy while the standard iPhone 14 models will still be made from Aluminum.
“the body of the high-end iPhone 14 series (or Pro) is expected to be made of titanium alloy and will be exclusively supplied by Hon Hai. In addition, other models in the iPhone 14 series will use aluminum alloy and stainless steel frames. “JP Morgan Chase
2022 iPhone 14 Background
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple will intro massive camera upgrades for the 2022 iPhone 14 by adding a 48-megapixel sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro models which Kuo says will take iPhone photography “to a new level.”
In terms of pixel size, the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and new 2H22 iPhone are about 1.7um, 2um, and 1.25um, respectively. We believe that the new 2H22 iPhone may support direct 48MP output and 12MP (four cells merge output mode) output simultaneously. With 12MP output, the CIS pixel size of the new 2H22 iPhone increases to about 2.5um, which is significantly larger than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, and larger than existing Android phones, and close to the DSC level. We believe that the camera quality of the new 2H22 iPhone will elevate mobile phone camera photography to a new level.Ming-Chi Kuo
As if the 48-megapixel main shooter wasn’t enough, Kuo says the 2022 iPhone 14 will have support for 8K video recording and watching iPhone-recorded 8K video on 8K displays will “offer a better user experience.”
Kup believes this advancement will lead to better mixed reality experiences and will create videos and images “more suitable for AR/MR devices.”
No iPhone 14 mini in 2022
Kuo believes that the 2022 iPhone 14 lineup will only include a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro. So that means there won’t be a 5.4-inch iPhone 14 mini in 2022, but what Kuo hasn’t said or doesn’t know is if this news is related to the 2022 iPhone SE. It is possible that the ‘iPhone mini’ name is going away and will be called iPhone SE in 2022, but that is only speculation given that the rumor about the 2022 iPhone SE will have a 4.7-inch Full-Screen display which would be smaller than the current 5.4-inch iPhone mini. Perhaps the details are wrong but the name is right.
Under display Touch ID and Hole punch front camera
Kuo has previously said that the 2022 iPhone 14 will have under display Touch ID and Apple would intro a hole punch style front facing camera as well. What are you hoping to see on the 2022 iPhone 14? Let us know in the comments below.
