We expect Surface Book 3 to be powered by 10th gen Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs based on various SKUs of Surface Book 3 models were leaked online from online retailers (screenshot below). The 13.5″ and 15″ Surface Book 3 will run the Core i5-10210U and the Core i7-10510U. We put together a table of specs below:

One of the glaring omissions of the Surface Book 2 was that it only supported up to 16GB of RAM, this was disappointing since the Surface Book 2 is Microsoft’s most powerful laptop. Microsoft will now have the option of 8, 16 and 32GB of RAM in the Surface Book 3. Like we stated before, we would prefer if Microsoft offered up to 64GB of RAM like the 16″ MacBook Pro.

We expect to see a minimum of 256GB of storage, with other options like 512GB and 1TB. IMO, Microsoft should offer the same options that are offered in the 16″ MacBook Pro. In that regard Microsoft should offer up to a 8TBs of storage.

A recent leak claimed that the Surface Book 3 will utilize the Nvidia Quadro GPUs instead of Nvidia GeForce GPUs. If you know anything about these GPUs, Quadro GPUs are more for creative professionals rather than GeForce which is typically optimized for games. However if Microsoft was looking to optimize for Nvidia’s RTX update for things like Minecraft, it could turn out to be a good move.

The top tier Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000 GPU which is based on Nvidia Turing architecture with 24GB GPU memory would enable users to work with larger and more complex models, designs, 8K video content, AI-augmented tools and multi-application workflows.
