Google is targeting Edge users & pushing them use to Chrome
Google is back to its old anti-competitive tricks again. Right now if you visit Google Search or most other of Google’s services you will see the pop-up below when using Edge.

The screenshot shows “To use Docs offline, upgrade to Chrome” then underneath says “Chrome is a fast, secure browser with updates built in”. The claim that Chrome is somehow secure is laughable as well, updates built into Browsers is standard now too.

We have been seeing this when visiting these sites over the last few weeks and we think this behavior is anti-competitive. Making the use of offline Docs dependent on its own Browser is classic Google. If Google was simply showing everyone a button to install its Chrome browser then that would be fine, but Google is targeting only Edge users. Do these pop-ups bother you, let us know in the comments below.
